President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama chose architects they had ‘great chemistry’ with to lead their library’s design, according to the Obama Foundation.
The foundation selected Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects of New York City out of seven candidates released in December. Foundation chairman Martin Nesbitt said the architect behind the U. of C.’s Logan Center for the Arts (pictured above) impressed the presidential couple.
The foundation also named Interactive Design Architects of Chicago as partner in design. The two-year design process begins once the foundation chooses either Jackson or Washington parks as the library’s future home.
