HYDE PARK-WOODLAWN — February 12th, 2016 – The University of Chicago finalized the purchase of 19 city-owned parcels along 63rd Street between University & Greenwood Avenues. UofC got a good deal, purchasing $755k worth of land from the city for $1. Plans for the $27.5M University of Chicago Charter School will replace its existing location at the Wadsworth Elementary Building at 6420 S. University Ave. The new 29,000 square-foot school is scheduled to start construction later this February 2016, with an increased enrollment to 750 students! Amenities include a track and football field.
