Great news for Ukrainian Village as predicted by Redfin for 2016 – based on a mix of public transit, affordability and charm, it was named the hottest neighborhood for 2016. Redfin’s Hottest Neighborhoods is a prediction based on the most recent growth they have seen in page views and favorites on Redfin.com. Ukrainian Village was the only Chicago neighborhood to make Redfin's top 10 list. However, West Loop and East Village were also mentioned as up-and-coming neighborhoods. Last year, Andersonville made the list at number seven. The median price of a home in Ukrainian Village was $472,000, and homes in the neighborhood spent a median of 22 days on the market (as reported by TimeOut Chicago). HYDE PARK-WOODLAWN — February 12th, 2016 - The University of Chicago finalized the purchase of 19 city-owned parcels along 63rd Street between University & Greenwood Avenues. UofC got a good deal, purchasing $755k worth of land from the city for $1. Plans for the $27.5M University of Chicago Charter School will replace its existing location at the Wadsworth Elementary Building at 6420 S. University Ave. The new 29,000 square-foot school is scheduled to start construction later this February 2016, with an increased enrollment to 750 students!
