South Side residents voiced their support for the construction of President Barack Obama’s presidential library at the former Michael Reese Hospital site in the near South Side. 200 residents discussed redevelopment projects for the vacant 48 acre lot on South Ellis Avenue in a community meeting last week. The city bought the lakefront property in 2009 and demolished all but one of the buildings on the hospital campus after Michael Reese Hospital switched ownership.
